FROM FIRST CONVERSATION TO SUCCESSFUL FUEL RECOVERY IN JUST SEVEN DAYS

One of the most rewarding aspects of exhibiting at an event is meeting new people and discovering the operational challenges they face.

This year proved just how quickly those conversations can turn into real-world results.

The Colavatis team met a prospective customer on our Seawork stand. After discussing a fuel contamination issue affecting their operation, we were asked to provide a quotation.

The proposal was issued the following Monday and, just seven days after our first meeting, we were supporting this new customer, being an East Coast workboat fleet operator, and we were ready to begin work.

The task was to recover approximately 50,000 litres of contaminated fuel stored in two large onshore tanks after poor-quality fuel had been removed from a tug, allowing the vessel’s bunker tanks to be cleaned.

The four-day project saw fuel processed at around 15 tonnes each day. Using MICFIL‘s ultra-fine filtration technology, for which Colavatis is the sole UK distributor, the contaminated fuel was successfully polished, removing fine particulate contamination and restoring the fuel for continued use.

The result was clean fuel, protected assets, and another satisfied customer.
